Maribojoc barangay leaders attend budgeting workshop

MARIBOJOC – The Municipal Budget Office here trained village leaders on barangay planning and budgeting in a two-day seminar workshop on Wednesday and Thursday at the Maribojoc Sports and Cultural Center.

From the town’s 22 villages, 66 barangay officials attended the Barangay Planning and budgeting seminar-workshop, where most of the participants were barangay captains, barangay secretaries and barangay treasurers. In a exclusive interview with the Post, Municipal Budget Officer Elizabeth Racho said that the two-day activity spurred the interest of the different sections in terms of decision-making as a vital partners in development.

It also served as venue to strategically review the different accomplishments of the LGU and discuss corresponding issues and concerns and identify priority projects, budgetary allocations and key strategies to efficiently implement the barangay development plan.

It also facilitated for the establishment of a comprehensive annual barangay budget with appropriations coming from the Internal Revenue Allotment, local funds and other sources. (FCF)

Irate pa kills daughter’s friend

MARIBOJOC- Call it over- protection, one Eduardo Mabuhay stabbed to death, a male drinking buddy of the 14- years old daughter Wednesday night last week right in front of Sta. Cruz parish church here.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the local police station. The victim, 16- years old Mark Angelo Briones, was strolling along the vicinity of the church with a friend named Michel Morgia, heading towards their boarding house around 7:00 p.m. when the suspect chanced upon them.

In an interview on Friday Morning, Mabuhay said he was provoked with the thought that the Briones and Morgia had invited his 14- years old daughter to their boarding house on Sunday night last week.

It was on that night that his daughter has not gone home and showed signs that she was under the influence of liquor when she returned in the morning the next day.

From then on, Mabuhay had harbored grudge on the victim and his friend. That’s why when he changed upon the teenagers, Mabuhay chased them until he got hold of Briones and stabbed him in the different parts of his body using an impoverished hunting knife.

After the incident, the suspect went to the mayor’s residence to voluntarily surrender. But since the town executive was out-of town, Mabuhay opted to be in the custody of the local police at the town’s PNP station.

He also turned over the weapon to the police officers on duty. Responding police officers, SPO1 Teodoro Arocha and PO1 Edilberto Calipes brought the victims to the Ramiro Community Hospital but were pronounced dead on revival by the attending doctor.
