LEGEND OF LINCOD:

LINCOD (1904) – It has been a tradition that when a person dies, the neighbors and relatives offer group prayers. One day, a mother with her two children went to attend a prayer gathering for their dead neighbor. While they were on their way, they saw a large-sized man sitting on a wooden bench at the shoulder of the road. The man was wearing a heavy black robe that matched his ugly and frightful face. Frightened, the mother and her children ran as fast as they could and shouted for help “Tabang! Tabang! May makahahadlok nga tawo nga nag-lingkod daplin sa dalan!” (Help! Help! There’s a man with frightful face sitting at the side of the road! ) “Lingkod” means to sit.

The news about the ugly man sitting at the side of the road scared the villagers. From that time on, the barrio people named their place as Lincod.
