MARIBOJOC: The Sanguniang Bayan gave Mayor Leoncio Evasco Jr., a blanket authority to rescind a Cadastral Survey contract with the Fudalan Survey Firm.

Fed-up with the many excuses of Engr. Elmer Fudalan, Mayor Evasco said that Fudalan is insincere for not showing up in meetings arranged to settle with grumbling lot owners who made advance payments.

The contract entered upon during the term of Engr. Gabino Redulla as mayor, a classmate of Fudalan in college, was not complied with.

Residents of eight barangays in Maribojoc where Fudalan was supposed to do the survey with the given time frame complained before Mayor Evasco and requested his help.

Mayor Evasco sought legal opinion from the Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay regarding the matter and was advised to rescind the contract and look for another competent survey team.

He then coordinated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through the Land Administration Management Project Phase 2 (LAMP2) for assistance. The DENR-LAMP2 project team offered to undertake the cadastral survey for the 8 barangays left by Fudalan.

Mayor Evasco has assigned an LGU team to undergo a two-week training to assist the DENR in the cadastral survey.

Last Thrusday, the LAMP 2 Project Team from DENR facilitated a forum along with the municipal and barangay officials of the town to get the project started. The team from DENR was headed by PENRO Nestor Canda, while Municipal Assessor Melonita Remperas heads the LGU team of five as the LGU’s counterpart.

On the other hand, the survey of the other barangays, conducted by the team of Engr. Antonio L. Dominguez, is going smoothly, Boy Descallar.(fcf)
