Maribojoc, braces for yuletide circa 2008

MARIBOJOC – This coastal municipality is on feverish preparations for a grand celebration of the Christmas season.

Mayor Leoncio Evasco Jr. designated Thursday TESDA Coordinator Moises Descallar, overall coordinator of the yuletide activities, assisted by Municipal Tourism Officer Mary Ann Jabines.

A parade of lanterns in the town’s main thoroughfare come Dec. 6, this year, will usher in the Christmas festivities. Aside from the lantern contest, the other competitions up for grabs and which carry handsome cash prizes include the following: a) daygon contest (open to neighboring towns); b) pastores contest (open) and c) choral rendition.

The top lantern maker will go home after the affair richer by P10,000. This isalso the amount up for grabs in the other tilts, aside from the runner-up prizes.

Meanwhile, a number of committee chairpersons of worship chairperson of worship, education, service family life and youth (WESFLY) coming from parishes of the Vicariate of the Virgin of Light converged recently at the Maribojoc Sports and Cultural Center to attend the Family and Life Congress.

The gathering of Church lay leaders opened up with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by Bishop Leonardo Medroso and concelebrated by Msgr. Jeffrey Malanog, Fr. Efren Dolauta, Fr. Johnson Ente, Fr. Bonifacio Espelita, and the parish prists of Busao, Catagbacan and Sandingan.

The religious affair bannered the theme – “The Family – Steward of God’s Creation.” The resource speakers include Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer who talked on the controversial Reproductive Health Act; Msgr. Jeffrey Malanog – The Value and Meaning of life; and Dr. Bumaat – Building the Culture of life.(fcf)
