WHEREAS, one of the highlights that every male child and parent look forward to every summer is the Filipino ritual of allowing children of school age to undergo a cultural passage from boyhood to manhood through circumcision;
WHEREAS, the cost of such an activity has, through each passing year, skyrocketed owing to the corresponding increase of the cost of medicines and other instruments used in the process;
WHEREAS, a vast majority of Maribojocanon parents could ill-afford the cost of everyday living, let alone the cost of circumcision for their children even if the same be done in government-owned hospitals or health centers;
WHEREAS, the local government unit of Maribojoc, Bohol, being a fifth-class (5th) municipality, could have sponsored and shouldered the expenses of such an activity but only on a limited scale and not on a town-wide basis due to budgetary constraints;
WHEREAS, the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol in cooperation with the Philippine National Red Cross-Bohol Chapter, Tagbilaran City, conducted an outreach program dubbed “OPERATION: TULI 2002” in Maribojoc, Bohol on June 4, 2002;
RESOLVED FURTHER that a copy of this resolution be furnished the Philippine National Red Cross-Bohol Chapter, Tagbilaran City for their information.
