A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE LEGISLATION OF A GAME CALLED “ JUETENG OR MASIAO” IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, BOHOL.

WHEREAS, there is an existing Municipal Ordinance No. 321 banning all illegal gambling games within the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol;
WHEREAS, these ordinance, includes Bingo joints, playing cards, hantak wityh stones and coins, rolleta, jumping horse, take all, dice and other illegal games;
WHEREAS, there are many humors and reliable source, that big time financers and operators of Jueting in Luzon and Mindanao, were sending request and promise good offers to the President, so that these games of chance called Jueteng be legalized;
WHEREAS, we have already experienced the past years, when “ masiao” ( game similar to Jueteng ) was tolerated, the effect was disastrous and endangered the living condition of the community;
WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Bayan as a legislative body of the municipality, can pass and adopt measures towards the preventation and irradiation of prohibited games of chance contrary to the laws, public policy and moral to protect against the exploitation of Jueteng operators an the provinces and municipalities of the country;
THEREFORE RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, that the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol hereby request his Excellency, President Fidel Ramos, President of the Philippines, not to legalize the gambling game called Jueteng in the Philippines.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this resolution be furnished, the good office of the President of the Philippines thru the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol for their information and kind consideration.
