REQUESTING THE HONORABLE EDGAR M. CHATTO, CONGRESSMAN, FIRST DISTRICT OF BOHOL, TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE MARINE FISH SANCTUARIES OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, BOHOL.

WHEREAS, the municipality of Maribojoc is one of the coastal municipalities of the province, within the jurisdiction of Region VII;

WHEREAS, approximately 40% of its population is directly and indirectly dependent on fisheries as their means of livelihood;

WHEREAS, the municipal waters of Maribojoc is a vast fishing ground for its marginal fishermen, but utilization of its rich fishing ground has been under-achieved due to the employment of destructive fishing methods that brought the destruction of the ecological balance and has resulted to the depletion of fishery resources;

WHEREAS, for the benefit of the marginal fisherfolks and its constituents the Coastal Resource Management Plan of the Municipality of Maribojoc was adopted to enhance a sustainable growth of marine and fishery resources;

WHEREAS, one of the Management of the CRMP is the Fisheries Management, wherein strategy number one is the establishment and management of fish/Marine Sanctuaries;

WHEREAS, the establishment of Marine Fish Sanctuaries require budgeting and support from the municipal council but we lack economic jurisdiction to help appreciate what we are supporting its long-term sustainability;

WHEREFORE, be it resolved by the Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, to request the Honorable Edgar M. Chatto, Congressman, First District of Bohol, to appropriate funds to support the Marine / Fish Sanctuaries of the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that a copy of this resolution be furnished to the office of the Honorable Congressman Edgar M. Chatto for his consideration.
