A RESOLUTION DECLARING SUPPORT OF THE “POLIO-FREE MAINTENANCE IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGN FOR THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC ON FEBRUARY 4-8, 2002 & MARCH 4-8, 2002.

WHEREAS, the Philippines, along with thirty six (35) other countries in the Western Pacific, has been declared Polio-Free in October, 2000 by the World Health Organization because of the effectiveness of its Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) which includes Poliomyelitis;
WHEREAS, the Polio-free declaration is inclusive of at least another five (50 years of sustained Polio vaccination to maintain its Polio-free status;
WHEREAS, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo issued Presidential Proclamation No. 135 in December, 2001 mandating a nationwide Polio vaccination for children 0-59 months old during the months and dates of December 2-8, 2001 February 2-8 and March 2-8, 2002 to ensure the Philippines remain Polio-Free in preparation for global certification for the next five years;
WHEREAS, Polio vaccination by means of Oral Polio Vaccination (OPV) is effective in ensuring that children are protected from getting ill of Poliomyelitis;
WHEREAS, the vaccination of all Boholano children on February 4-8 and March 4-8, 2002 would ensure that the present generation of Boholano children as well as the future generation would be protected against Poliomyelitis;
WHEREAS, it is the political will and personal desire of all the SB members as well as the Municipal Mayor of the Municipality of Maribojoc that all Maribojocanon children must be protected against Poliomyelitis;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, that the Municipal Mayor & all SB members of Maribojoc, Bohol shall:
a.commit all available resources to support the Polio vaccination as mandated by the Presidential Proclamation No. 135;
b.abide by & comply with the Guidelines of the Department of Health for the successful implementation of the aforementioned Polio vaccination.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this resolution be furnished to Municipal Mayor, all Barangay Captains & all other concerned agencies.
