AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING EVERY LAND OWNERS OF VACANT AGRICULTURAL LAND WITH AN AREA OF 2,500 SQUARE METERS OR MORE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC TO PLANT FIVE MANGO TREES EVERY YEAR WITHIN FIVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS.

WHEREAS, the Philippines 2000 movement envisions the Philippines as a God-Centered, people empowered and prosperous national community whereby the least among clothing, shelter and dignity;

WHEREAS, the Philippines 2000, as a movement calls for unity among Filipinos, a call for strategic alliance among key development organizations and people organizations;

WHEREAS, the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol envisions to make the locality a mango town so as to uplift the standard of living of the constituents and increase its revenues as soon as these ,mango trees bear fruits.

WHEREFORE, premised on these grounds be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan that:

SECTION: 1. It shall be obligatory for every landowners of Agricultural land with an
average area of at least two thousand five hundred (2,500) square meters to plant at least five mango trees every year within five consecutive years.

SECTION: 2. Every landowner should provide their own makeshift nursery for the
germination of mango seeds and shall make initiative of collecting germination of mango seeds and shall make initiative of collecting mango seeds for future germination.

SECTION: 3. Landowners who may not be able to germinate seedlings may
coordinate with the municipal Agriculture Officer, the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture of the Sangguniang Bayan or any of the barangay officials in order to avail of any mango seedlings.

SECTION: 4. Barangay Officials shall conduct periodic supervision, monitoring and
prepare yearly evaluation to check the observation of this ordinance.

SECTION: 5. By the year 2000 every landowner in the Municipality shall have
planted at least twenty five (25) grown mango trees.

SECTION: 6. Landowners who have planted mangoes more than the required by law
prior to this ordinance are exempted but are encouraged to plant more.

SECTION: 7. Any landowner who fails to comply this ordinance shall be fined in the
amount of One Hundred Pesos (P100.00) after a yearly evaluation.

SECTION: 8. Implementation on this Ordinance shall take effect in January, 1995.
