AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING PENALTY TO BUSINESSMEN WHO USE DEFECTIVE WEIGHING SCALES IN THEIR BUSINESS OPERATION IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, BOHOL.

BE IT ORDAINED, by the Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, Bohol, that:

SECTION 1: It is unlawful for any person or group of persons to possess or use
a weighing scale in making a practice of buying or selling goods without securing first a seal and a license to use such weights and measures for business purposes.

SECTION 2: Any person who with fraudulent intent alters any scale or balance,
weight or measurer after it is officially sealed or who knowingly uses any false scale or balance, weight or measure shall be punishable by law.

SECTION 3: Any person who fraudulently gives short weight or measure in the
making of a sale, or who fraudulently takes excessive weight or measure in the making of a purchase, or who, assuming to determine truly the weight or measure, fraudulently misrepresents the weight or measure shall be punishable by law.

SECTION 4: That violators to the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined of
not less than two hundred pesos (P200.00) nor more than two thousand pesos (P2,000.00) or by imprisonment for not less than three months nor more than two years or both.

SECTION 5: That this ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
