AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING FISHPOND OPERATORS TO DUMP THE WASTE MATERIALS OUTSIDE THE FISHPOND AND REQUIRING THE OPERATORS TO CONSTRUCT A DUMPING PIT WITHIN THE FISHPOND AREA.

Be it enacted by the Municipal Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, Bohol, that:

Sec. 1 – To correct the marine lives in the seawaters of Maribojoc Bay, operators are prohibited to dump outside the fishpond the chemicals used in cleaning their fishpond after harvest time.

Sec. 2 – Fishpond waste materials should be deposited in a constructed dumping pit within the fishpond compound so that marine habitats outside the fishpond would not be poisoned by the chemicals used by fishpond operators in cleaning their fishpond.

Sec. 3 – Every fishpond operator in this municipality is required to construct a dumping pit for waste materials used cleaning the fishpond after harvest time.

Sec. 4 – Any person or group of persons who violates the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined of not less than P1,000.00 or an imprisonment of not less than one month or both at the discretion of the Court.

Sec. 5 – That this ordinance shall take effect upon approval.

LET copies be furnished the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Manila; Bureau of Fisheries Division, thru channel; the Station Commander, PNP Maribojoc, Bohol; the Barangay Captain of Lincod, Maribojoc, Bohol, the fishpond operators concerned, Maribojoc, Bohol for their appropriate action and guidance.
