AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL GRADUATING STUDENTS IN THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY LEVELS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TO PRESENT A CERTIFICATE OF TREE PLANTING TO THEIR RESPECTIVE SCHOOL HEADS IN MARIBOJOC, BOHOL.

WHEREAS, it is the duty of the local legislative body to enact measures and policies for the establishment, maintenance, protection and conservation of the environment and natural resources of the locality;
WHEREAS, at present condition there is a gradual lose of forest trees due to wanton destruction of some unconcerned citizens and the cutting of deregulated trees without any replacement;
WHEREAS, more abundant natural resources will prevent floods, droughts, erosion and sedimentations and will increase water supply to meet the ever-increasing demand for consumption;
WHEREAS, in order to promote a healthier ecosystem for the constituents of the municipality, it is but apt to make an exhortation to all citizens concerned particularly the youth and the prospective leaders;
WHEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan that:
SECTION 1: It is the duty of every student, in the public or private sector to help conserve and develop the natural resources of the municipality, especially by planting of trees.
SECTION 2: Trees to be planted may be fruit bearing, shade or forest trees and shall have already been grown upon graduation.
SECTION 3: Quantity of trees planted shall be in the following scheme:
1st year of effectivity – 1 1
2nd year of effectivity – 2 2
3rd year of effectivity – 3 3
4th year of effectivity – 4 4
5th year of effectivity – 4 4
6th year of effectivity – 4 6
Succeeding years – 4 6
SECTION 4: The planting of trees shall be done in the following places:
a.) lands owned by the family
b.) lands leased by the family with the consent of the owner thereof
c.) lands owned by municipality or national government which serve as a watershed, plaza or park.
SECTION 5: The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Council (MENRC) shall be in charged of monitoring to see to it that the provision of this ordinance is strictly observed and shall closely coordinate with the schools district supervisor and other school heads within the district.
SECTION 6: Certificate of tree planting may be issued by the barangay captain concerned in triplicate copies, one of which will be submitted to their respective school heads and another for the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Council.
SECTION 7: Certificate on trees planted shall be collected within the first quarter of the year on or before graduation comes.
SECTION 8: Any violation of this ordinance shall be deprived to graduate from the elementary and secondary level.
SECTION 9: This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
